Lower Exterior Door Protection Kit

This overlay was originally designed in Japan and brought over to the US by us. If you already have some damage to the lower part of your doors or want to prevent paint damage, this product is a great solution.

Sold as a set of 4 pieces. Enough to do one whole vehicle.

This material is durable and will last for years. I source the vinyl for these products from US suppliers. They are often made in the US or Europe. Material standards are high.

For the 3D Carbon material, do not apply wax. Just clean with normal soap and water.

NOT ALL MATERIALS ARE CREATED EQUALLY CUSTOMER MESSAGE

"Got them just now, thanks for including a(n) extra set! I've had 2 sets of CF look ones from another seller and silver stars kept peeling and the carbon look faded really bad." When purchasing vinyl overlays, keep in mind that not all materials are created equally.

We use premium vinyl which has high initial costs, but are the industry standards for high quality materials. Also made in the USA. - Dragon Wrap™ Carbon Fiber Films (3D Carbon) is a 5.6 mil calendered vinyl film featuring a clear repositionable permanent acrylic adhesive on an air-egress liner. This film has excellent dimensional stability, outstanding durability and outdoor performance.

- This repositionable permanent adhesive offers minimal initial bond growing to permanent bonds that facilitates application of large graphics. The air egress liner also aids in large graphic application.

- Up to 5 year durability outdoors. Rated EXCELLENT for WATER RESISTANCE, HUMIDITY RESISTANCE, and SOLVENT RESISTANCE.

Gloss Black is US sourced Avery brand (with air egress channels) and Matte Black is from Orafol which is a German company.

INSTALLATION

Recommended items:

The fluid, squeegee, and microfiber can also be purchased as a kit here.

Ideal install weather is 75-85 degrees for 24 hours or more during the drying / adhering process.

Keep a heat gun or hair dryer around to apply light heat to encourage adhesion and dry out liquids when doing a wet install.  The materials are heat and pressure activated.

We recommend a dry or wet install for 3D carbon. This material is forgiving if you lay it down slightly off and pull it back up as long as you have not firmly pushed down a majority of it. The material has air egress channels to make it easier to install and get bubbles out with your fingers or a felt squeegee. Some squeegees can be too hard and scratch the material or you'll accidentally scratch your paint.

For other materials use a wet install. We recommend using Stickerfab application fluid.

Prepare the vehicle by cleaning the lower part of the door. Do not clean it with a wash and wax type product. You are trying to remove all residue from the paint. This goes for the OUTSIDE and the INSIDE of the door. The inside of the door catches a lot of dirt and debris. The paint on the inside of the door must be clean so you can wrap the vinyl around it.

The overlay follows the body lines.  You can use painter's tape to draw a straight light across the entire body for better alignment.

Adhesion increases with pressure and heat. Use a hairdryer if needed. The extra vinyl will wrap around the door edges creating 100 percent coverage. Start with the front door and note our pictures. You want to get 100 percent coverage of the lower part of the door. Once you have this installed, start at the front of the back door and align it to the front door. We chose to line up the rear part of the back door with the edge of where the factory side skirt meets the metal body. This can also be seen in the pictures.

Optionally, you can install additional stickers on top of the overlay like our 6" STI stickers (sold separately)

3D Carbon Exterior Lower Door Protection Kit - 2015-2021 WRX

Pretty simple to install. Just triggers my OCD to have little triangle gaps on the edges.
Probably installed it wrong, oh well no worries.
