These should have come pre-installed from the factory. They are so much better than the crappy soft plastics Ford used.
The overlays were extremely easy to install as long as I took my time and properly prepared the surface. I thoroughly cleaned the area, used Meguiar’s detailing cleaner, rubbing alcohol, and made sure my hands were very clean before installation. Using a heat gun or hair dryer also made the material much easier to work with.
The material is very, very forgiving. I actually installed and reinstalled one of the vinyl overlays at least 20 times because I couldn’t get it quite right. Even after all that, the material held up remarkably well. Taking my time, avoiding stretching or creasing the overlays, and installing them within the recommended temperature range made all the difference.
I live in West Texas, where temperatures regularly climb well into the 100s, so I’m especially interested to see how they hold up over time. So far, I’m extremely impressed with the quality, appearance, and ease of installation.
Honestly, I enjoyed installing these so much that I’ll probably be buying more overlays soon just to do more of the interior. Highly recommended.
