Why a Catch Can on the 2.7L EcoBoost
The retro Bronco hides a modern legend - the second-generation 2.7L EcoBoost, with both port and direct injection. The added port injection helps keep intake valves clean, but it doesn't protect the rest of your engine from blow-by.
As blow-by flows through the intake it coats sensors and the intercooler in a sludge of oil, carbon, and fuel. It also thins your engine oil, and any blow-by that reaches the cylinder lowers your fuel's effective octane - and on a high-strung turbo engine, less octane means less power.

Engineered for Real Separation
The can uses an internal baffle and air turbulators to condense oil, fuel, and water vapor out of the blow-by, plus a 50-micron sintered bronze filter that captures carbon particles. The 3 fl. oz. can is black anodized 6061 aluminum, and the internals are cleanable and reusable.
A sturdy 2.5mm-thick steel bracket mounts it away from engine vibration and stands up to rough roads and off-road abuse. Patent US D884,760 S.
