Hood Paint Protection Film (PPF) - 2021+ Bronco

Hood Paint Protection Film (PPF)

Hood protection PPF is something that has been requested for a little while.  Pre-cut templates allow for easier installations.  Whether you use your Bronco for long range commutes or in and around town, a little additional protection can go a long way.

The lower portion of the hood is angled downward a little more and the lead edge can take some harder hits than the rest of the hood as well.

Depending on your level of confidence, we are offering a full width model and a straight cut (easy install) model that stops short of the curved edges.

Please choose StickerFab Application Fluid as an add on if you do not have it already.

Material

Clear Oracal ORAGUARD 270G stone protection offers a transparent solution to paint protection.  It is 6 mil in thickness.

NOTE:  2 sets are sold at a reduced price.  Keep it as a backup or in case your first install proves to be difficult.

INSTALLATION

We recommend doing this after a fresh car wash.  Re-clean the application area to prepare it for installation.  Just use a wax free detailing spray if your vehicle is not too dirty.  Do not forget to clean the areas under the side and lead edge of your hood to include the gaskets mounted to the hood.  Also wash your hands.  You do not want to get dirt stuck to the adhesive side of the PPF.

Watch our video for some tips.

NOTES:  We recommend that the installation area be free of wax and not under direct sunlight.

Recommended Items:

  • 2-3 people
  • Microfiber
  • Detailing Spray
  • StickerFab Application Fluid Preferred (or soapy water)
  • Heat Gun or Hair Dryer Optional (minimal amounts of heat to encourage stretching and/or drying)
  • Supplied Felt Tip Squeegee

You will want to do this in 70-80 degree weather ideally.  Stay in the shade.  2-3 people will allow you to get this installation done a lot easier.  We do not recommend going at it on your own.

One person will be pulling the vinyl off the backing as you go while the other holds the remainder of the material.  The last person can monitor the process and step in as needed.

Apply application fluid or soapy water (one or two drops of soap per cup of water) to the target install and nearby surrounding area.  Also apply it to the back of the PPF as it is removed from the backing paper.

With a liberal amount of application fluid on the target area and PPF, you can change the alignment of the PPF by gently pulling up on portions and setting it back down.

Once you alignment is ideal with an even amount of material extending over the sides and front of the hood, you can start to squeegee out the liquid.  If you have the full width version, you will have to stretch the edges over the sides while firmly pressing down the curved areas.

Try to get out all bubbles without damaging the PPF.  Take your time and learn how the material reacts to pressure.  Should you push down hard on our felt tip squeegees, they can leave some glue residue.  Any adhesive remover or Goo Gone should be able to remove that.

Bronco Hood PPF

First time ever installing PPF. Went on really nicely. Fit really good. If you've never done one watch YouTube videos for some tips.

Good product, not easy to install

recommend choosing the easy install vs. the full width hood PPF. Ended up having to cut the ends off as the curve is just too dramatic to GE tribe as an amateur installer. Also recommend getting some Ppf squeegees to avoid scratches.
