In contrast, while I am pleased with my purchase, the installation process proved more intricate than depicted in the video. I would like to provide the following feedback and suggestions:
The video illustrates the drilling of holes in the center of the vertical piece where the lights are mounted. This results in partial obstruction of the lights by the grille. I strongly recommend drilling the holes at the bottom to allow the lights to be positioned at the bottom. If my memory serves me correctly, the photograph of the Land Cruiser with the 4-light version (which I purchased) shows the lights mounted at the bottom of the vertical piece. If I am not mistaken, I may attempt to relocate the lights in the future, but this will be a challenging endeavor.
The 3M double-face tape presents a significant challenge. I believe it took me longer to remove the covering on the 3M side than any other aspect of the installation.
The butt splices and the heat shrink solder splice are both excessively long for the wiring tail connecting to the lights. I resorted to soldering the leads together and subsequently applying my own heat shrink tubing over each connector. I then secured the bundle with an stress-relief zip tie to protect the wires from accidental pulling.
The fork crimp connector for the ground wire is too small for the bolt shown in the video. I used an alternative connector instead. Furthermore, even the provided one is designed for a heavier gauge than the black wire in the harness. It detached after crimping. I included a heavier gauge wire to ensure the crimped wires are secure.
I utilized a Dremel tool to create a slot in the side of the fuse box for the cable to exit. This was mentioned in the video, but I felt it was an important consideration to ensure the fuse box lid remains securely fastened.
I believe the video should be reshot or edited to address the aforementioned issues.
During daylight and with the lights positioned at the top of the vertical piece, they are barely noticeable. I anticipate that they will be significantly more visible in low-light conditions.
Additionally, I am curious if both the white and yellow lights can be wired together for enhanced brightness. However, this may void the DOT rating.
