Subtle Dark Smoke for the Top of Your Supra's Tail Lights
Most people like the factory tail lights on the 2020+ Toyota GR Supra A90 — they work well as-is. But if you want to dial back the stock look without going full heritage lamps, these dark smoke overlays for the top portion of the tail light are the right move. They darken the upper section and give the rear end a slightly more aggressive, less factory appearance without changing the fundamental design.
Covers the top of the lamp only — not the full tail light. Wet install recommended for this piece; the curved surface benefits from the soapy water method which lets you reposition the vinyl as you align it. Tip: open the trunk before starting so you have full visibility of the lamp from both sides. Made in the USA.
Installation
- Clean the tail light surface thoroughly — remove all dirt, debris, and wax
-
Open the trunk — this gives you full visibility of the entire lamp during install
- Mix soapy water (1 drop of dish soap in a cup of water — mostly water)
- Apply the soapy water to the back of the overlay and the tail light surface
- Start from the center and work completely to one side, then the other
- Push water and air bubbles out from center to edges using firm finger pressure
- A hair dryer or heat gun can help with adhesion, but not required — this has been installed in winter without one
Fitment
Fits: 2020+ Toyota GR Supra A90 (all trims). Covers the top portion of the factory tail light.
FAQ
Does this cover the entire tail light or just the top?
Just the top portion. It darkens the upper section of the lamp. For the full tail light, see other Supra overlay listings.
Will this affect brake light or turn signal visibility?
The dark smoke material reduces lens brightness but does not block light function. The tail light remains fully visible in daylight and at night — it's a tint, not a blackout.
Why open the trunk during install?
Opening the trunk gives you a clear view of the full lamp from behind the bodywork, making it much easier to align the overlay correctly from the start rather than guessing from the outside.
Do I need a heat gun?
No — this has been installed without one even in cold weather. A hair dryer or heat gun helps with adhesion and drying the soapy water faster, but it's optional.
