Hidden Behind the Grille. Serious Light When You Need It.
The Baja Designs Squadron 2.0 Behind-the-Grille Light Kit mounts completely hidden behind the factory grille of the 2025+ Toyota 4Runner — no lights visible during the day, a significant upgrade to forward visibility at night and on trail. The kit is now built around the next-generation Squadron 2.0 lamps: higher output, refined beam pattern with less wasted spill, RGBW backlight with nine selectable colors, new 4-pin Deutsch connectors, and the uService clip-in reflector system for field-replaceable optics without removing the lights from the mount.
Two tiers available — Squadron 2.0 Sport for a high-performance, high-value build, and Squadron 2.0 Pro for maximum output when you need the ceiling pushed further. Both available in Clear for maximum raw output or Baja Amber for improved penetration in dust, fog, and rain. The multi-pattern optic system lets you tune beam coverage for your terrain. Compatible with the Baja Designs Upfitter Harness for direct integration with the 4Runner's factory OEM switches — no toggle needed.
Squadron 2.0 Sport vs. Pro - Which Should You Choose?
The Sport delivers 3,200 lumens per light at 30W — excellent trail performance at a lower price point. The Pro delivers 5,921 lumens per light at 65W — a 21% increase over the original Pro generation — with a refined optical system that throws a cleaner, farther-reaching, and wider beam while minimizing wasted spill. For most trail and dual-use builds, the Sport is the sweet spot. For dedicated rigs where maximum output matters, the Pro closes the gap on darkness.
Lens Options
-
Clear — 5000K white output, maximum raw brightness for open terrain and night driving
-
Baja Amber — warm amber output, better penetration in dust, fog, rain, and particles. Preferred for desert and coastal conditions.

FAQ
Will the lights be visible through the grille during the day?
Minimally — the behind-the-grille position keeps the lights hidden behind the factory grille slats. In most viewing angles during daylight, the setup is not obvious. At night when lit, the light output passes through the grille opening.
Does this work with the factory OEM upfitter switches?
Yes — with the Baja Designs Upfitter Harness (sold separately), these kits integrate directly with the factory OEM auxiliary switches for a clean, no-toggle install.
Clear or Baja Amber — which is better for trails?
Clear gives you maximum raw brightness — best for open terrain, fast desert, or any conditions where distance matters. Baja Amber penetrates dust and fog more effectively. If you run primarily in dusty or wet conditions, Amber is the better choice. For mixed use, Clear is the more versatile option.
Why does the TRD Pro not fit?
The TRD Pro has a different front fascia with unique grille geometry. The mounting brackets in this kit are designed for the standard 4Runner front end — they do not accommodate the TRD Pro's grille opening dimensions.
What changed from the original Squadron kits?
The 2.0 lamps deliver higher output (Sport: 3,200 lumens vs ~2,400 previously), a refined beam pattern with less spill, RGBW backlighting, improved Deutsch connectors, and uService clip-in reflectors. The mounting system and vehicle fitment are unchanged.
