Factory reverse bulbs are designed to meet minimum standards — not to actually light up the area behind your vehicle at night. The Diode Dynamics HitchMount solves this by mounting a Stage Series SSC1 or C1R LED pod directly in your 2-inch hitch receiver, adding a reverse light that's several times brighter than stock. It automatically activates when you put the vehicle in reverse and turns off when you shift back.

Reverse Only vs. Reverse + Brake
Reverse Only (SSC1): High-power white reverse light + red running light backlight. Activates automatically in reverse. Best if you just want a dramatically better backup light.
Reverse + Brake (C1R): Everything in the SSC1, plus a high-power red 4th brake light that activates every time you press the brakes. Also includes SafetyStrobe — flashes 3 times on brake activation for added visibility. SafetyStrobe can be disabled if preferred.
TIR Optics — Why This Is Brighter Than Generic Pods
Most LED pods lose significant light through reflectors and outer lenses. Diode Dynamics' custom-engineered TIR (Total Internal Reflection) optic collects all of the LED's output and directs it precisely where you need it — reducing glare, eliminating internal loss, and boosting usable light output. The TIR optic also serves as the outer lens itself, eliminating the additional efficiency loss of a separate cover lens.
The result: a flood beam pattern specifically engineered for backup use — 50×50 degrees of even, uniform illumination, not just a defocused spotlight. Real optical design, not a generic product.

FAQ
What's the difference between Reverse Only and Reverse + Brake? Reverse Only (SSC1) adds a high-power white backup light and red running light. Reverse + Brake (C1R) adds those plus a high-power 4th brake light with SafetyStrobe. If you brake frequently in traffic, the C1R is worth it.
Will this interfere with my vehicle's trailer detection system? On Ford vehicles (Bronco, Ranger, etc.), the HitchMount does not trigger trailer detection — no warning messages. On other platforms, behavior varies. Contact us if you're not sure about your specific vehicle.
Can I still use my hitch for towing? Yes — the HitchMount uses a snap-fit design that removes in under 5 minutes. Unplug the harness, press the snap-fit pins, and the mount comes out. Reinstall just as fast when you're done towing.
What if my trailer connector isn't 7-pin? The kit will still work but requires a slight modification to the harness. Contact us and we can walk you through it.
Can I disable the SafetyStrobe flash? Yes — the C1R's 3-flash brake strobe can be easily disabled if you prefer a steady brake light. Instructions are included.
